Volunteer

Once you have had a wonderful dog, a life without one, is a life diminished.”

Dean Koontz

Student Volunteers

If you are a college or high school student and need service hours for your organization, we can always help. During pet adoptions, volunteers setup tables, crates, and water bowls for the animals. Get your volunteer hours while have a fun time with the animals.

Vaccinations

Vaccinating pets against Parvo, and Distemper is very important for the pet and for the community. Once you have seen an animal struggle and often loose their life to these diseases is heart breaking. Helping to vaccinate pets prevents the spread of disease and promotes a healthy Amarillo community. Some of these volunteers have a medical background while others are willing to learn and help.

Photography

Are you handy with a camera or smart phone? Much of the work of connecting an animal with their adopted family is promotion. Photos are used on social media and the website to promote the rescue and save animals.

Fundraisers

Some volunteers have a special gift for raising money to help animals. From time to time, animals with special medical needs will have a fundraising event to offset the medical expenses. Some animals we take into the program have broken legs, Parvo, Distemper, malnutrition, etc.  Other times, the rescue may receive 25 animal from a hoarding situation and need to board the animals because of a lack of fosters.

Animal Walkers

At pet adoptions, one of the tasks is taking the dogs out for a bio-break. When there are 10 to 20 animals, that is a lot of trips. We also need volunteers to keep water bowls full for our nervous guests.

Special Events

The rescue will often participate in community events such as parades, Mutfest, etc.
